I am attempting to maintain a blog filled with random bits from my life and family as well as my adventures in crafting.

Wooden Eggs on Display

I got my Easter craft done and I still have a whole week left!  It's a miracle.  I love wood/paper crafts and I found these wooden eggs at The Wood Connection.  That store is so dangerous for me to go into :)  I decorated these by painting them with acrylic paints, modge podge, and paper from the Pocket Full of Posies stack from DCWV and Colorbok glitter paper.  I used WeRMemory Keeper's baker's twine and a string of flat back pearls from Recollections.  The paper flower is cut from the Paisley cart and I layered different sized flowers to make a 3D look.  I really wanted to use a prima flower, but didn't want to have to go buy one thing for the project.  Just used what I had on hand - paper.  I am going to link this project up with Decorate to Celebrate's challenge "Easter".  You should really check out this challenge site if you haven't already, it's so fun - LOVE it!

Let It Bee...

Hey All!  I have another card for you :)  This one I came up with by putting a few different challenges together.  Paper Playtime's challenge is to use a bee; My Craft Spot wants you to emboss or use Glossy Accents; and Whimsical Designs wants to see buttons and bows.  This cute little bee comes from the Paisley cartridge and the tag comes from Once Upon a Princess.  I used Glossy Accents on the bee's cheeks and the little flower he is holding, it's kind of hard to tell, but they are glossy.  I embossed the black mat with Swiss Dots (LOVE that folder!).  I also used Spellbinders Edgeabilities Classic Bracket for the border.  I really like the pop of pink among the black and yellow, it cheers me up!  Hope it does you too :)

"Eggs"tra "Eggs"tra Read All About It!

Wow, did I ever have a creative brain freeze when I was trying to put this card together.  MojoMonday has a challenging sketch this week...at least it was for me.  Anyway, this is what I was able to do with it after playing around with different papers and ribbon for longer than I want to admit.  I am also entering this into BBTB2 "Egg"ceptional Easter Eggs and Celebrate the Occasion "Happy Easter".  The scallop and circles are from Mini Monograms, the eggs and grass are from Create-A-Critter 2.  I think there should be a rule that Easter should always be at least 3 weeks away from St. Patrick's Day.  It's just crazy how close they are this year.  I just took down my St. Patty's Day Decor last night and am trying to get my Easter stuff up.  There are projects I haven't even started yet for Easter and I only have a week and half left to get them done!  AAHH!  I will just calm down and craft on...

Spring is in the Air - FCCB Challenge #153

Are you ready for another challenge over at FCCB?  The Design Team has come up with some amazing inspiration for you to play along with us for the "Spring is in the Air" challenge.  All you need to do is use a kite or a balloon on your project.  I am so anxious for spring to get here, we had a taste of it last week, but now it's cold again - BOOOO!  I need WARMTH!  Anyway, this is what I came up with for the challenge - "let's go fly a kite..." The kite is cut from Designer's Calendar, and I popped it up with some dimensionals.  I tied baker's twine for the bows on the tail.  The clouds and flowers are cut from April Showers, the grass is cut from Plantin Schoolbook.  I used dimensionals on the clouds and the first two layers of the grass hoping to get a better sense of depth.  The sentiment was just printed out on my computer, I didn't have an actual stamp with that saying.  I hope Spring gets here soon :)

100th Post - Lucky Charms!

I was so excited to get my early Birthday/Mother's Day presents in the mail yesterday! Four new cartridges, including Create-A-Critter 2!  I just had to get it out and make one last St. Patrick's Day card using this cute little worm!  I love all the little accessories in this cartridge and as I was putting this card together they just reminded me of charms...so here is my Lucky Charms card.  I used glitter paper for the little worm and popped him and the charms up with some dimensionals.  I used Fiskars corner punch Sea Pearls and the paper is from The Paper Studio All Seasons pack from Hobby Lobby.  This card is going to be linked up to a few challenges - Little Scrap Pieces "Luck of the Irish", More Than Favors "Something Green/St. Patrick's Day", and Die Cuttin Divas "Green and Gold".  I hope everyone remembers to wear green tomorrow!!!

Erin Go Braugh

So, I don't even know what Erin Go Braugh means.  I know it has something to do with St. Patrick's Day and all, but no, don't have a clue!  I should ask my dad who spent two years in Ireland 40+ years ago.  I know I could research it online, maybe I'll do that instead.  Anyway, this card was created for the Crafty Cardz Challenge "Erin Go Braugh" and Whimsical Wednesday "Happy St. Patrick's Day".  It's a very basic card, nothing too fancy, but it looks very Celtic to me.  The only cut images are the shamrocks and they are from Designer's Calendar.  Can't believe St. Patty's Day is almost here!

Baby's 1st Easter

This Easter will be my baby's 1st so in honor of her, I decided to make a card to put with her Easter Basket.  Of course I will be making a card for my son too, but this card fit nicely into a couple of challenges this week!  BBTB2 "Bring on the Bunnies", My Craft Spot "Sweet Baby", and Mojo Monday provided the sketch with their challenge this week.  This is so girly and sweet, I just love it.  The bunny baby is cut from Simply Charmed, but when I had it put together as the handbook displays, I thought something was missing.  I pulled out Create-A-Critter and used the belly from the rabbit on that cart as well as the bow from the poodle.  It just added that little something.  The scallop flower is cut from Home Decor and the circle and scallop border is from Plantin Schoolbook.  I embossed the base mat with Swiss Dots and inked the yellow mat with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink.  The two cuts are popped up using dimensionals.  This was a fun card to make, especially with my sweet baby in mind.

You Would!

I'm sad that I could not get this to photograph well.  I don't feel the true colors and details of this card are perfectly represented and it's a shame because these colors represent me to a "T".  My husband and I have a running joke that anytime I see something that I absolutely love, my husband knows me so well and will say "You Would!".  It's been a rough weekend dealing with his cancer and I have to remember and keep hold of those fun moments with him.  We will get back to those times, but for now it SUCKS!  Anyway, I digress...this card was made for a couple challenges Cardz TV Stamps  "It's SO You" and Little Scrap Pieces "Fun Friday Birthday Challenge".  So not only do I love this color scheme of pinks and browns, I LOVE presents!  So this card is definitely "SO" me.  I found the layout in the Mojo Monday archieves (seriously am obsessed with these layouts).  The present is cut from Celebrations, the scallop cloud is from Once Upon a Princess, and I used Swiss Dots embossing folder for the mats.  The patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye Blush 6x6 pack.  I also inked around the edge of the base mat with ColorBox Dark Brown Chalk Ink.  I really am in love with this card and will never give it to anyone - I'll keep it for myself - as I do with many of my cards :)

Got Eggs?

Every year I host the "Coloring of the Eggs" for my nieces, nephews, and now my own kids.  It's something I love to do, and then my sister and I hide the eggs on Easter Sunday in my our parent's backyard for the kids to go hunt.  It's a tradition I don't intend to stop anytime soon.  LOVE Easter!  Anyway, I started making invitations for it and this is the invite for this year.  It's not a card, just a one sided decorated mat with the back having the party info.  I'm kind of loving how cute it is.  I hope that my brother's family gets a kick out of it too.  I'm entering this into Whimsical Design's "Think Spring" and My Creative Time "Spring".  The cute bunny is from Create A Critter, as well as his basket.  The grass is cut from Plantin Schoolbook as well as the "got eggs?"  The paper is from Recollections "All Seasons" pack.  Simple but cute.

So Lucky!

This little leprechaun puts a smile on my face.  As my little boy gets older I am finding more joy in all of the holidays.  Decorating the house and doing fun crafts with him has just been so uplifting.  I have been using all of my cards to decorate my house. I should be sending them out, but no; I hoard them for myself :) I will be entering this card in a few challenges - Celebrate the Occasion "Luck of the Irish", BBTB2 "So Lucky Shamrock", Craft with Cutters "Irish Eyes are Smiling", and Die Cuttin Diva's "Try A Sketch".  I think we all know where "Darby O'Gill" comes from, the Simply Charmed cart.  The shamrocks are cut from Designer's Calendar.  I used the embossing folder Quatrefoil for the three smaller mats.  I inked around the edges with ColorBox Creamy Brown Chalk Ink, and used dimensionals to pop up my image.  Hope everyone has a Happy "Green on Seventeen" as my 4 year old now calls it.

Birthday Treat

This is a fun layout I found in the Mojo Monday archieves and I put together a birthday card for a few challenges this week - My Craft Spot "Tasty Treats" and both Paper Playtime and Craftin Desert Divas issued "Anything Goes".  I used the DCWV Sweet Stack for the patterned papers.  The pink glitter paper is from Wal-Mart. I cut the cupcake from Doodlecharms and the cherry from Home Decor.  The scallop and circle are from Accent Essentials.  I also had some flat back pearls from Making Memories that I used - a first for me!  This is another card that I will be giving to my MIL to give to one of the many girls in the family - I could even be getting it back for my birthday :)

St. Patrick's Day Craft

I was so excited to see Decorate to Celebrate's "St. Patrick's Day" challenge.  I bought a wood shamrock last week and have been needing to get to it, this just put me right in the mood to get it done!  I really like how it turned out.  I am bummed a little bit because when I went to The Wood Connection, I wanted to get a full set (large, medium and small).  Of course, they were sold out but I did get the very last large one, so I'm happy about that.  The paper is "lollipop" by lily bee design, llc, and the glitter is from Wal-Mart.  The ribbon I just had in my stash, no clue where it came from.  I cut the tag from George.  The stamp is from a holiday set by Fiskars.  I inked around all the edges with ColorBox Chalk Ink Dark Brown.  It's fun and festive and looks great on my table!

Time Sure Does Fly...

I make birthday cards for my mother-in-law each year so she can give them out to the family.  We mostly have girls on that side of the family, my son is the only grandson and there are only four adult males.  So as you can imagine, I am used to just making cards for girls/women.  My MIL told me that she needed a male card made up for my BIL cause his birthday is next month.  PERFECT! two of my favorite challenge blogs have assigned this very theme! Pause Dream Enjoy's "For the Boys" and Anything Goes "Make It Manly" are just awesome! I also followed Mojo Monday's sketch for this week's challenge too.  The patterned paper all came from Echo Park This and That Charming 6x6 pack (LOVE 6x6 packs!). The clock came from Designer's Calendar cartridge.  I inked around the edges with ColorBox Chalk Ink Prussian Blue.  I tied some jute around the front, but didn't want a bow, so just left it a knot.  I printed the outside and inside sentiment off my computer.  Then just stamped a generic "Happy Birthday!" with ColorBox Chestnut Pigment Ink.

Bee Happy!

Here is a card I created for three fun challenges.  Craft With Cutters "Things with Wings", Little Scrap Pieces "Think Spring", and  Docerela Creations "Friendship".  I think this little card fits all of those themes.  I would like to send this to a friend who is feeling a little down.  It's bright and springy and would hopefully put a smile on her face.  This is the first time I have entered the CWC's and Docerela's challenge.  I LOVE finding new challenges!  I used Walk in My Garden for the bees, beehive, and the sentiment (I had to cut out "be" twice and steal the second "e" because the cart cut is just "be happy").  I popped up the images on some dimensionals, and used glue dots for the Recollection flowers.  I do like the color combo on this card and the layout is a bit different for me, but it works :)

Bye Bye Birdie Challenge #151

I am so excited to post my very first Design Team project!  FCCB's "Bye Bye Birdie" is such a fun challenge!  I love all the different bird images that the Cricut carts have and the fun sentiments that go along with them from so many stamp sets out there, I wish I could have them all.  Anyway, my little bird is cut from the Home Decor cart and I cut him out with some fun glitter paper.  The patterned paper is from DCWV Pocket Full of Posies stack and it is fun and glittery too.  I used Edgeabilities Classic Scallop for the top border and for the sentiment corners I used Fiskars Corner Punch "Sea Pearls".  The sentiment itself is by Studio 112 that I picked up from Joann's in the $1 bin.  The ribbon I got from Michael's out of a $1 bin too.  Love the $1 bins!  I used Wisteria ColorBox Chalk Ink to ink around the edges of the tag and ColorBox Eggplant Pigment Ink for the sentiment.  This was a fun card to make and now I need to find out some fun juicy gossip so I can send this card out :)

Birthday Princess!

Once Upon a Princess is the cutest cartridge!  Not only are there cute little dress up princesses, 3D images, and a font; it has a TON of different tags for sentiments.  I was very impressed and excited to discover that.  Anyway, I created this card for a few different challenges.  Crafty Cardz "Make A Wish" is to create a birthday card for a child and Celebrate the Occasion issued the challenge to create a birthday card for a girl and include pink; so naturally I combined those two challenges.  Whimsical Wednesday issued a sketch challenge and I know that my card doesn't follow it exactly, my sentiment is not the central focus, but I came close so I'm entering that challenge as well.  This is definitely a girly card with the glitter and the bling, but it's cute and fun.  I inked around the base mat, embossed the second mat with the Paper Studio Curl Ribbon folder and the patterned mat is from The Sweet Stack by DCWV.  I hope that whoever the little girl is that receives this card is super happy with it!

FCCB Design Team!

I am so excited to announce that I am on the FCCB Design Team!  I am so excited to share this experience with all of you!  I hope that I am able to bring some insipiration to you and get to know more of my fellow crafters.  It's going to be a fun journey!
